I just want to share a great experience I had last year in Leticia Amazonas, teaching a Diplomado in Portuguese to a group of primary and secondary teachers of that region as part of the Bilingualism National Program.
Firstly you need to know that Leticia is one of those places that you need to visit once in life. This corner of our country is known as "Las tres fronteras" (Peru, Colombia an Brazil), so there is a mix of culture without walls and the most important language they speak is peace.
Secondly, for me and as a teacher it was a challenge to go there to share my knowledge and experience with people who already knew the language and practice it everyday. At the end it was very good to see how they recognized that knowing a language is not enough to teach.
And finally, I wish to have more time to share more information about this experience with all of you.
